Palestine resistance group Hamas on Wednesday condemned as “treacherous” the Israeli attack on Tehran that killed national security chief Ali Larijani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group Hamas has issued a condolence message following the death of Larijani, who was killed in an Israeli attack in Tehran, according to a statement released by the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hamas described Israel\u2019s ongoing strikes against Iran as \u201ca crime targeting the entire region,\u201d warning that such attacks threaten broader regional stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group extended its condolences to the Iranian people over the killing of Larijani, the secretary of Iran\u2019s Supreme National Security Council, who died along with his son and several associates in what Hamas called a \u201ctreacherous attack\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iranian authorities said Larijani was killed early Tuesday, in a strike which also claimed the lives of his son Morteza, his aide Alireza Bayat, several council staff members, and bodyguards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Israel and the US have continued a joint offensive on Iran since Feb. 28, killing around 1,300 people so far, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Israeli military said it had killed Larijani in an airstrike near Tehran, claiming he was \u201celiminated\u201d in what it described as a \u201cprecise strike\u201d overnight Monday.
The Israeli army described Larijani as \u201cthe de facto leader\u201d of the Iranian regime, according to its statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also claimed that Gholamreza Soleimani, the commander of Iran\u2019s Basij forces, was killed in a separate airstrike in the country.
Larijani appeared publicly last Friday during Quds Day rallies in Tehran, hours before his name was reportedly included on a US list offering rewards of up to $10 million for information on 10 senior Iranian officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
